Aren't H4 spouses considered as Immigrants ?
:) sure you are otherwise you wouldn't be living here.
I am not againist H4 guys but i can't help but laugh when H4 guys complain that they were being treated bad by not allowing them to work.
One has to understand that US allows ppl on a certain basis and H4 is nothing but to join your spouse (or something like that for kids).
One can request them to make a provision for H4 ppl to work but blaming that they haven't done that simply by fogetting on what basis they entered US.... hmmm i don't know.
Questioning their speed of process and other irregular rules... yes i am with you but blaming them for above ... i don't think that is fair.

I too have been in this country since 1998 and have a priority date of 2004 EB-2.
The one way I cope with the endless stream of bad news from the monthly visa bulletins is by remembering that with every passing day the the reality of having a GC is getting closer and not further. Many times I have contemplated giving it all up and going back to my upper middle class comforts of good old Bangalore, but then I remind myself that I have probably endured most of the pain and quitting at this point is like walking away from a marathon with the finish line only few miles away (or maybe not).
Comapre your GC wait to a marathon and decide if you are too close to the finish line to give it up or if it is so far away that alternate avenues need to be pursued.
Admittedly DOS is moving the finish line like a baby brandishing a new toy, but lets be realistic in assuming that EB India priority dates have been pushed much further back than needed. This maybe a knee jerk reaction due to the July fiasco.
Anyways, all I am trying to say is that hang in there and dont give up. If you still feel depressed seek medical help.

Wait till next week-end. My 140 mailed to NSC on 11th April (why?? not sure) and received RN from texas. ND was dated 19th April. RD was 13th April.
Now # of applications are more so it can take more time but your RD will be maintained.
Hope this helps...
My i-140 no. starts with SRC 06, is this also from Texas?

We have to go to a consulate in our home country to get VISA stamping.
1000's of us are affected. SKIL bill Section 402 is addressing this.

I have a feeling that the restrictionists may seek to attach HR 6283 along with the SKIL Bill to any appropriations bill...the restrionists have long been trying to cut family immigration (which they call chain migration)..what do you think?
NUmbers USA are asking members to send this fax to their representative...
====
Dear Representative XX
I believe that cosponsoring H.R. 6283 is the single most important immigration action you can take right now to remove injustices caused by too-high immigration and to move US toward environmental sustainability.
Until the late 1950s, America's immigration tradition of family unity had only included spouses and minor children. Since then, however, immigrants also have been allowed to sponsor send for their siblings, parents and adult children for legal admission into this country.
Because each of those can then bring in their own adult relatives and nuclear family, a single immigrant can eventually be responsible for the arrival in the United States of his/her aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, first cousins, second cousins once-removed, in a spiraling chain that eventually could reach most of the world's six billion-plus residents.
Our immigration policy, particularly as it pertains to chain migration, is out of control. Please put an end to it by supporting H.R. 6283.

All you freaking South Indians can do is sit on your ass and code all day long .... As soon as you fellows open your mouth we all get how intelligent you guys are .... As for drawing the line between North and South - Can we just seperate the Telugu, Kanada, Tamil and Malayalam people from the North and the rest of us Northeners will be just fine :)
Please ban this guy.We are Indians all of us from North, South, East or West India. We are Indians.

Your Comment on H2B is only right about H2B and doesn't apply on EB green cards. We are people who came on H1B & our Green Cards were sponsored by US employers, we have our Labor & I-140 approved and we are waiting for Visa number assigned to our applications. So you could be comparing apples to peaches...Immigration policies had been hostile in past 12 years and will continue to be same indefinitely...Now our choice is sit back, lie low, keep watching & read Visa predictions indefinitely- may be another decade or 2- or take some steps, which I think, are not going to face much opposition. Also regarding reason behind so many Indians is, that 200K H1B between 1999 and 2002. Even if visa cap is lifted for 2 years that big hump will be crossed, it may smoothen the Visa allocations for Indians.
Some people are floating in Utopia.
Most of us are here on on the ground.
Keep watching the forums and see how many denials have been posted and we are just at the beginning stages... There are many more denials; revocations; dol audits, arrests coming.
While all this is going on; you can continue to push the envelope and try to increase EB greencards, get rid of country quota and loosen up everything.

I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...
Why do you have this hunch?
It seems like all the LUDs on approved I140 from Texas for July filers is pointing towards their I485 being sent to Texas too. Hence, this unimaginable prolonged delay. Can we do anything about it except sulk?
Let it run its course.

I will also suggest guys waiting with their PD current to write to the USCIS Director in DC. I did that; not sure if that worked in my case, but one needs to explore every way of bringing their case to the attention of the management.

I got following reply from Sen. Franken
Thanks for contacting me about the DREAM Act. I appreciate you sharing your concern with me on this issue.
There are thousands of young people in the United States who have gone to school, done their homework, participated in school activities, received their high school diploma and wish to go to college - but whose parents brought them to this country illegally. These youth face several barriers to a college education. Federal law currently limits states' ability to offer undocumented immigrants in-state tuition, and they are also not eligible for federal student financial aid.
I do not believe that we should punish children for their parents' actions. For many of them, the United States is the only country they consider home. With the chance to attend college, they will be able to fully contribute to our nation's future. The DREAM Act, S. 729, would allow undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and pursue a college education or enlist in our nation's military to apply for conditional permanent resident status.
The DREAM Act, of which I am a cosponsor, is bipartisan legislation narrowly tailored for undocumented students who have lived in the United States since they were children, succeeded in school, and want to be productive members of society. Requirements to be eligible for the DREAM Act include having arrived in the U.S. at age 15 or younger; having graduated high school; having served in the military or attended college for at least two years; and demonstrating good moral character. The DREAM Act is the chance we're giving these young people to earn legal status by working hard to attend and succeed in college.
Again, thank you for contacting me, and I look forward to hearing from you in the future on this or any other matter of concern to you.
Sincerely,
Al Franken
United States Senator

I do doubt it. The USCIS is still under the threat of being sued. i do no think they want to do that. however i wonder about the reason of slow processing!

It is depressing to see that nothing has changed much since the last post in this thread in 2007!
We are still in the same rut  and not a single immigration news to read either  let alone have any kind of active debate on the topic !!
