I agree--make your own decision for your peace of mind. Under W2, you're an employee and your employer does the taxes. On 1099, you're self-employed and you do the taxes, and also deduct business expenses. However, being on W2 does *not* mean that you've a job for unlimited period of time. A lot of recruiters for contract jobs (e.g., a 3-month contract) give you the option of joining under W2 or 1099.--e.g., $70/hr on 1099 or $60/hr or W2. Being on W2 should *not* be construed as being on a "permanent" job.
At the end of the day, it's all a question of your peace of mind. You can take this 6-month contract on W2 and take comfort in your (wrong) thinking that you're on a "permanent" job, or you can take that contract on 1099 and (wrongly) worry that you're on a "temporary thing."

Also - emailed both personal contacts at my state senators offices with whom I (and a group of other state members) visited over the last month and a half to re-iterate general IV goals and to state strong opposition to S1348.
I have received personal responses back from both Feinstein and Boxer at this point.

Ours is Substituted labor(eb3) and Priority date is Feb2002.
Our lawyer sent our papers on 29th june2007.Don't know the status of mail,since my lawyer is not responding to our mail.

I have a electronic mail from them with the 140 receipt Notice (as PDF)
from USCIS.. I took the LIN number from there and Queries USCIS - they says USCIS received my App on May 15th and under processing....
I took a Print out of that 140 receipt Notice and will attach with 485 Application... My approval will not come before Jan-Feb 2008.
Just wanted to let you know, if your 140 is pending, you will have to submit the receipt notice and also the copy of labor cert showing the PD. Read page 4 below the NSC mailing address.

Has anyone with approval from 08/01 received welcome letter or card? My husband's I485 was approved on 08/04 but no letter or card yet. Also, mine and my son's cases are still pending, opened SR and will take infopass next week.

Act fast, I know 20th is close, think about is as an emergency

I am sorry SunnySurya but this issue DOES concern me. If everyone starts asking the IV core for their time just for their own issues, what about the rest of the community?
If you expect the IV core to dedicate it's time JUST for a particular secction of people, then you need to justify that demand.
In your opinion, EB3 is a LOWLY category as compared to EB2. So it is not enough that Nurses feed from it and just about EVERYONE else feeds from it. To top it off, overflow from eb1 goes FIRST to eb2 and then (and almost NEVER) to eb3. SO Eb2 gets a fair chunk of the greed cards, and over and above that you now want the IV core to further drop everything else and help JUST eb2 out? And who should make this demand? None other than someone who is trying to BREAK the community up into Eb2 vs Eb3.

In my case, i do not have a valid H-1B visa stamp. I recently visited India and used Advance Parole. Questions related to this
1) do i need to surrender my PAROLE I-94 before departing USA?
2) does canada immigration officer ask me why i have applied for canada gc while my USA gc is in process?:confused:

If you wanna return to the US from Canada, you either need to have H1B visa or AP.
Your Canada Immigration Officer may ask why you want to settle in Canada and you should have a convincing explanation.

I will definitely call senator's office and talk and even take appointment. For me the senators nearest office is 150 miles drive one way. But I will do that.
The House representitive's office is less than half a mile's drive. But he is a member of Toncredo's immigration caucus and it is plain useless to talk to them.
The highlighted message is the key to the next step.
At most times you are likely to get such automated responses and message would be ignored unless backed up by lobbying effort. Each campaign is carefully crafted and the strategy is based on our ongoing lobbying efforts.This is why we ask for a focused message and followup instead of sending junk emails (from online petitions) and thinking our work is done after hitting the submit button. It is a waste of time and energy and misleads the community in what they should be doing to get attention to their issues. Sending email is just one tiny step towards the advocacy work. Next step is to call the office and follow up about the email. Tell them you are not satisfied with such a response on an important issue.
